Individuals qualify for Medicare (parts A and B) 24 months after qualifying for SSDI (disabled, elderly, widower or child of insured individual). Medicare A will pay for Doctor visits, some home health care and durable medical equipment. Medicare part B will pay for hospital costs. Medicare does not provide prescription coverage. There is a monthly premium deducted form the SSDI check for Medicare parts A and B. If an individual also qualifies for Medicaid, this will pay the premium.

Resources and education regarding communicable disease prevention services, adult and child immunization for influenza, pneumonia and hepatitis, tuberculosis skin testing, rapid strep throat testing, HIV/AIDS counseling and testing. Additionally, the Nurse-Family Partnership and Best Beginnings provides maternal and child services including prenatal and post-partum home visits conducted by nurses, individual prenatal classes conducted on a case by case basis, breast feeding support and counseling, financial assistance for children with special health care needs, and follow-up care for infants and children who are born into high-risk situations. Female initial/annual examinations and lab services, contraceptive services, hormone replacement therapy, pregnancy testing and counseling services provided on a sliding fee scale. Breast and Cervical Program provides assistance with free or low cost mammograms and annual exams for low-income individuals over fifty years of age (earlier if there is a significant problem). Medical services are as follows: Annual exams, including: Pap, Pelvic exam, Anemia screening, Breast exam, Blood pressure screening, Weight assessment; Contraceptive information and supplies; Pregnancy Testing; Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI); Testing and Treatment; Hormone replacement therapy; HIV Testing (Rock Springs, Evanston, and Rawlins only). To be eligible for assistance from Wyoming Cares, you must be a United States citizen and a Wyoming resident. A Wyoming resident is defined as a person living in Wyoming for at least six months. An application is required for assistance. All applications must have a professional referral. An application can be obtained by calling Wyoming Cares. Once completed, the application is reviewed by the Professional Review Committee on a monthly basis. Wyoming Cares does not provide case management services. All correspondence is directed to the referring professional.
